Florence Fennel pollen/seeds

CaraRoseAugust 19, 2011

I attempted to grow Florence fennel for the first time this year. Unfortunately with the heat wave that hit, it's all gone and bolted before I got any bulbs. I figure next year I'll have to try a more bolt-resistant variety.

I know fennel seed and pollen is usually collected from common fennel, but would it be worthwhile to try and collect these from the florence fennel?

You can use Florence fennel seeds for cooking and for planting. So I'd say it's worthwhile collecting them.
