My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She's ninety-seven now, and we don't know where the hell she is. by Ellen DeGeneres

I only have one 'E'?
Well, I need more hostas : )
My 'Emily Dickinson'.
Baby Empress Wu..First year.
Emerald Ruff Cut . new 2013
Empress Wu - slow for me; needs more sun?
El Nino - new 2013
Emmett Armitage - Another green edged sport of S&S. Green edge barely visible.
Enchantment came from another hosta lover.
A tiny Emerald Ruff Cut. Your first year ERC looks about three times bigger than mine, SquireJohn.

Eskimo Pie has been in for at least three years and just barely hangs on. There are fewer leaves than when it was planted, but they are getting bigger, so maybe there's hope.
Well, I had more E's than I thought I would!
Earth Angel in 2012. Last spring the weather went from the 40s to over 100 in one day, and almost everything that gets sun fried, including EA.
I was surprised to find so many "E"s, and I managed to miss Empress Wu.

H. 'Empress Wu'.
Lots of great E Hostas. Lee, that Emerald Ruff Cut is great. I had heard it was difficult to grow. Some great Earth Angels out there too.
My Earth Angel in year 3. It's getting there.
Empress Wu year 2. I have read that this one really takes off after the first few years. Have patience with the small ones.
EDOP 512. I really need to name this one as it's my best streaked breeder. It gives a large percentage of streaked seedlings and seems to allow the best features of the pollen parents. Any suggestions?
Bernd, that Emily could possibly be mis tag? Looks more like Ginko Craig :)
Thank Steve, ERC is a beautiful hosta too bad it has spring desiccation reputation.
Do you have the names of your streakers parents? Always a good starting point. If not, you could go topical and name it Smaug - it looks like a pretty fierce hosta!
Melati, you are right, I have both h.'Ginko Craig' and 'Emily Dickinson' growing next to each other, recorded them in the wrong sequence, so you will see it again under 'G'. I have no picture of Emily. Thanks! Bernd
Steve, how about hosta Liquid Gold as a name for your streaker :-) It really is a beautiful hosta!
How about Golden Rainbow
Eternal Flame. New this year. Held up great.
Emerald Ruff Cut
Endearing Endeavor shipped to me late season and heading "south" for the winter. Better pic next year ;-)
Wow!! Just added a bunch to my "would like to have" list! And both sugested names for the streaker are great, I would love either one!! This next spring I have to start taking pix, got a new camera, now just have to learn how to use it! Along with the 12 or so other things I want to do . Does this madness never end? P.S. The Ellen joke is funny, every time I think of it, I start laughing.
SquireJohn, I think the Empress spends a lot of time growing a big root system to support her huge superstructure. Don't despair, she'll get there.
Earth Angel is blue but I got it anyway, love the leaf
Edge of Night, dark on dark
Embroidery, the incredible shrinking hosta
Emerald Charger is a fragrant with a cowlick flip in its leaves
That's it on the right above the gold Sunny Delight
Emily Dickinson is a sweet hardy fragrant. Got mine from Mason Hollow Nursery in NH.
Empress Wu ready for the driveway bed in July, but not tipped out until Aug 2013
and for SquireJohn, here is her root system which developed in less than 2 months from bareroot.
Erie Magic on the right
Essence of Summer in Aug 2013....a fragrant hosta
Eye Catcher in July 2013...not a big hosta btw
Eye Declare impressive when it emerges, shown first in May 2013 with Ginzu Knife
and that's all folks...again .... NEXT
melati, love that Eskimo Pie and the Emerald Ruff Cut. Color me green with envy!
H. 'Shaw 'Nuff'? : ) OK, maybe not...
Time to join in the fun here.
Eye Candy - first year
I have five of these hosta. My oldest two were acquired in 2011. Not quite as photogenic as the others have posted, but here it is.
I do love those leaves though.
Beautiful Eskimo Pie melati! I am admiring all the El Nino's too. Mine has been quite slow in growth. And I am putting Emerald Ruff Cut on my wish list.
Moccasinlanding - I think your Edge of Night is mis-labeled, since it should be solid dark green.
Here is a link that might be useful: HL: Edge of Night
melati, my h.'Eskimo Pie' also only has 2 or 3 leaves, growing since 2009 in my garden. It seems to only sit there, getting regulat water though. H. 'Dancing in the Rain' is actually shrinking. Bernd
How about Seargent Stripes for the beautiful streaked unnamed?
EDOP 512 is a great-looking plant, Steve. Possible names...
Amber Power (Is the literal translation of the word 'rafmagn' from the Icelandic language, which means 'electricity')
Paul, thanks for bringing it to my attention about Edge of Night. I'll look into what happened, and if not solved then I'll make a new NOID thread.
I thought the name was appropriate for the way it looked though, because dark dark midleaf, and a dark green margin as well. Well HAH! Fooled me, it sure did.
Ooops- missed Eola Sapphire.
'El Nino' leaf
Steve-How about H. 'Winners Streak' or H. 'Streak of Luck'
Steve - How about "Show your Stripes"? It looks striped to me.
Ahhh âÂÂEâ - the best letter IMO since it stands for Elegans :)
Never one to be shy when showing off my Matrons, here goes !
But she is not my only âÂÂEâÂÂ
Better late than never...
H. 'English Sunrise'...my only E. No wonder I love it...it comes from 'June', looks like 'May' and has terrific substance and colour.
Here it is offering up flowerscapes later in the season.
