Portlandia grandiflora in bloom. Small, very fragrant tree that blooms in the shade. Planted this from a 3-gallon can two weeks ago. This is the first flower.

Ricki, I have one ten feet tall that hasn't bloomed. What am I doing wrong? I was told they like lime, so I gave it that along with regular fertilizer. Full sun and plenty of water.

BTW, yours is lovely.

I was told to keep it out of the sun, that it would ONLY bloom in the shade. Also, not to over water it. What is fertilizer?

Thanks, I understand why on line they say to have it in partial sun then.
