Creeping Thyme ZONE 4a Vermont

fayrehale(4a)December 5, 2008

does anyone have experience using creeping thyme between flag stones where there will be traffic. Have heard about and seen pictures in books....BUT... how does it stand up to human feet?

We have a 10x12 arbor in the back yard. Will be installing a flag stone floor next season.; want a table and chairs under if so we can sit... chat...eat what ever.

what in the spaces?? creeping thyme?? moss?? or ?????

thanks

creeping thyme, particularly the smallest leaf variety, does well in my growing zone; not sure how it would do in zone 4.

I have creeping Thyme Serpyllum in between my flagstones and they do well in Z4 NH:
one blooms white,the other a lavender...some that have seeded are a pale pink.
They seed into nooks and crannies and they can
be walked on;
good sun exposure and drainage are required.

How about Florida? I love the look of plants between the flagstones, but it gets really hot here in the summer. The folks at my local nursery hadn't even heard of creeping thyme. Any deep southerners tried this?
