Hosta V 2013

ilovetogrow z9 Jax FloridaFebruary 12, 2014

1. David's father has three sons : Snap, Crackle and _____ ?

2. You are at a river. With you are a Chicken, Bag of Grain, and a Wolf.
You have to cross the river in your canoe but can only take one with you at a time.
You can't leave the chicken with the grain. He'll eat it.
You can't leave the wolf with the chicken. He'll eat it.
How do you get everything over and intact?

3. If you drove a bus with 45 people on board you go to Salmiya to drop 5 and pick 4 then you go to Hawally to drop 8 and pick 10 more then you go to Troy City to drop 3 and pick 7 more up then you go to Khaitan to drop 8 and pick 9 more finally you go back to Salmiya and reach there after 20 hrs. What is the age of the driver?

Very exited to see your Vs:

Vulcan started to put on some size last year - hope it leaps this year.

1. David
2. Row the chicken across. Go back and row the wolf across. Take the chicken back with you on the return trip, leave it, and row the grain across. Row back and get the chicken. Had to think about this one a long time!
3. The driver is my age, and I'm not telling.

Squirejohn, I don't think that first one is Victory.

One that really stood out for me last summer. The thickness of the leaves and texture is beautiful.

A very hardy 'no-name' that I called Vinnie. It will grow anywhere and thrive. It looks a lot like Gold Drop but I have one of those and there are slight differences.

bkay2000 - You may be right. I took this photo at a nursery. If it's not Victory I haven't a clue as to what it is since I wrote down the names from the labels and it doesn't resemble the other 7 hostas I photographed.

SquireJohn, my Victory does not look like yours at all. I got mine from Bob Solberg, pretty sure it was rightly tagged. Here it is from May 2013....check yours against HostaLibrary. While your plant is gorgeous, I think mine is more typical perhaps?

Van Wade Blue, a 2013 addition from WadeGatton nursery. It is in a 5 gallon bucket, and at the end of the season, roots were coming out the bottom spreading into the surrounding soil.

ventricosa

Venus, trying to see if it performs better than Aphrodite

Verna Jean, a small-to-medium hosta that grows willingly and beautifully, and its companion White Dove with DIFFERENT LOOKING (this is my edit) variegation. Both came from Green Mountain in NH. 6/2013

Volcano Island, tetraploid version of Paradise Island, first in May then in July. Love it! Got it from Naylor.

Valerie's Vanity, very nice glossy plant, I don't think it's ever had a bad day.

Loveto grow, I will answer one of your riddles

Take the Chicken over first and leave it on the other side.
Next, take the Wolf across and leave him, but bring the Chicken back with you.
Next trip, leave the Chicken where you started and take the Grain across with the Wolf.
Finally, go back and get the Chicken

Roast and eat the chicken, trade the grain for some hosta and teach the wolf to chase aware deer in your garden....... I love these trick questions.

bk2000,mocc, Steve - Thanks for setting me straight. I must have had another one of my many senior moments as the nursery where I took the photo is very professional and particular about correct labeling.
