Has anyone made the NCHFP Peach Apple Salsa recipe? Did you like it?
I made it last year. The recipe calls for pickling spice as the seasoning, so to me it tasted more like a relish as opposed to a salsa. I'm more used to the cumin and cilantro flavor in a salsa.
I ended up making 3 different versions of peach salsa last year. The other 2 disappeared quite fast, whereas I still have jars of this sitting on the shelf. But then we aren't big relish eaters in our family - we don't eat many pickles at all.
Thanks for the feedback Pixie Lou! Do you have a favorite peach salsa recipe? I would like to make one batch of fruit salsa this season.
Our favorite is to use the Annie's Salsa recipe - but sub half the tomatoes with peaches. (Peaches are more acidic than tomatoes, so this is a safe substitution). We use that one as your basic chips and salsa type of salsa.
I also like Katie C's peach salsa - which is all peaches with onions and peppers, no tomatoes. We use that more with cooking - salsa baked chicken or salsa topped fish.
I'm linking the Kati C recipe. The Annie's salsa recipe is all over this forum - a quick search of this forum should pull it up (or even scanning the threads on the first 2 pages)
Here is a link that might be useful: Katie C Peach Salsa
Thanks, I'll give Annie's with peaches a try!
