Seed starting advice?

JenniferinFL(9B Florida)August 14, 2012

In my foolishness, I started a large variety of seeds in one of those seed starter trays with the lid. Moon Flower, Fennel, Dill, Tomatoes, a couple kinds of peppers and marigolds. You get the idea, a few of each. At the time it seemed like a good idea since I'm not 100% certain I'm going to get my raised beds in soon enough to plant this fall. So I figured I'd start what I could keep potted. The two moon flowers were bumping the top of the lid by day 4, so I moved them into pots. The tomatoes are all bumping the top of the lid, but the other stuff isn't fully germinated yet. Should I move the tomatoes out into pots and hope they make it, or should I just leave the lid off?

You can leave the lid off, but remember to keep the unsprouted seeds moist.

Or you can take the sprouted plants out & put them where they can get sun & leave the rest covered - I've done both these things.

I tend to favour the 2nd because I find it easier to group plants according to needs.
