still trying to identify

hester_2009September 28, 2011

I posted this before (when it wasn't starting to flower) and Sylvia thought it was a red leaf amaranth - still maybe but I'm not sure. I don't know is you can see that the flowers are starting to turn lavender.

Here's another view

any ideas?

You might be right, purpleinopp! Although the leaves aren't as dark purple (I googled and got loads of images) as most perilla I saw, the leaves have a definite fragrance. I can't quite identify what it is but I'll keep sniffing! Then I have to figure out how to cook with it!
