When can I dig up the lilies?

jcurts(8)September 30, 2010

I have a whole slew of lilies in the wrong place and wish to dig them up and replant next Spring after the plot is prepared.

Can I dig them now and replant them at that later time?

Also have some calla lilies to seperate and scatter out.

Any special time or method there?

Thank you

I assume you are talking about true lilium species, not daylily hemerocallis. Lilies should be dug now that their foliage is dying back. It would be best to replant now I think, but you can probably store in peat moss in a cool place. I imagine a refrigerator would be best.
Calla lilies can be dug now also.
There is a lily forum on Gardenweb you may like to check out too.
