Kaffir lime seeds

dghays(Z10A FL Brevard)October 25, 2009

I cut open a kaffir lime and didn't really see what I was sure were seeds, nothing like what you'd see in other citrus. Are they just quite small, or might I have been unlucky and gotten a seedless fruit? Or perhaps it was too young, it was about the size of a key lime, with a bump on it like a honeybell. I planted the flesh in case the little seeds were in there.

Hey Wanda, I don't see anywhere in that link where they actually say how big the seeds are. That's what I need to know. Thanks -Gary

gary, i have a few limes on my tree. they're really tasty little fruit. next time i pluck one, i'll check to see if there are any seeds. mine was grown from seed--mary gave it to me. it's a tough little tree. much more frost-tolerant than you might believe.

Well, I can now be sure that mine had no seeds, that's for sure.

Ill, if you get some seeds, I'd be very interested in getting some sent here. Can I email you my address?

When you open up the fruit, you should see seed. The shape is flat and a little long. If you did not see, your fruit may not have seeds.

I have on occassion seen kaffir limes at Lowes and HD. The SE Asian folks that I know, call them Macgrood limes and I have seen one tagged as that at Marie Selby.
