Early blooming daylilies

zahzeen(5)December 11, 2011

I've never posted on this forum but was interested if anyone had any information on what daylilies may bloom early in New England. I want to start something this winter to donate to a sale to benefit the Childrens' Hospital of Boston which is held every weekend in May. Ideally, I'd like the plants to be budding or blooming in May. I appreciate any help you may be able to give me. Thank you.

I'm in zone 5, and my daylilies are just making foliage in May. I typically do not get any buds/bloom until Late June.

You would need to probably "force" them to bloom, but I'm not sure how easy that is to do with daylilies.

I am a zone 5/6 and I don't see any blooms until late June on plants that are established in my garden.
You might want to think about donating them with a picture of what the bloom will look like.

Thank you both for your thoughts and ideas. Based on what I've learned, I don't think daylilies are the right plant for me right now. I appreciate your quick replies to a new poster!

Hyperion is the first to bloom here in zone 4/5 Utah. Late may!
