well since watermelon pink can I use the rind for pickles?

so anxious to pick the biggun.. turned out pink inside but course I am eating it anyway. It was a volunteer .probably from bought watermelon that I I threw out black seeds in yard,, who knows.... in yard.

So hoping that the next two I wait the right time...

So anyway can I use this rind for making watermelon pickles...??????

The rind of any watermelon has no flavor, nor nutritional value, that I have been able to discern in my research so far, so I doubt that the color of the edible fruit has anything to do with making pickles from the rind. You really have nothing to lose.

Agree with Nancy. Rind is rind, regardless of the color. Most every watermelon I have ever eaten or grown was pink. What color were you expecting it to be?

I love watermelon rind pickles. Make sure it's a thick rind variety. Not a seedless, thin rinded, fridge sized type.

It was real real light pink. Not red like the ones I bought.. Seeds were white off white not black

My DS loves watermelon rind pickles/preserves, though as Nancy says there is no nutritional value in it (maybe that's WHY he likes them!). Just be sure to get all the pink part off, and all the skin off, before you pickle them.
