(Kind of) New to Hoyas

BellsMom2(7)July 26, 2013

Hello everyone!

I am very excited to have found this forum. I can't really say that I am completely new to hoyas. I got a shoot from my mom many years ago that has become a nice big plant (I don't know what kind of hoya it is. To be honest I didn't even know there were different kinds until I started looking for information). It used to frequently bloom but hasn't for a couple of years now. We recently moved and the plant is starting to grow new long sprouts. This has peak my interest and I am trying to find as much information as possible to make sure it stays happy and hopefully start blooming again. I have never repoted it since I have had it. I think it is about 8-10 years now. Should I repot it? Would that help it bloom? Any tips/ideas on how to care for my hoya would be very appreciated.

Thank you!

You can tip it out of the pot and see how bound the roots might be. If very tight, you could pot it up one size only.

Do you feed it? That might help as well.

If you post pics, someone might be able to tell you what type, and whether the roots look bound up.

:)
Here is another wonderful place to learn/discuss Hoyas:

I find it a bit more active.
