Tubers on Black and Blue salvia (pic)

AndreaZn7(z7 MD)February 11, 2008

Hi all,

I grew a Black & Blue Salvia last year which I

left in the ground in my zone 7 garden. I was recently

cleaning the garden patch where the salvia is located.

I pulled out the B&B salvia and it came up with tubers

on the root zone.

Is this normal? Does this mean that the plant will resprout

in the spring?

TIA.

Andrea:)

Oh yes!! You can also seperate these tubers and make new plants. It does spread like crazy in soft soil.

Mine is already sprouting here in southeast Alabama. I would love to give lots of it away if someone lived close enought to come get it.

Mimidi,
That's great news! The cutting I took inside died so
I look forward to this resprouting in the spring.
Thanks for the response.

Mimidi,
How long before your B&B's usually flower?

I don't really know. I am sure there will be blooms in May. I need to go back and check pictures of my flowers and see if I can give you a better answer.

Apparently I have done away with my picture files and can't find the time they start blooming for me.
