Fall Fun - taters and rattlesnakes

Orlando-DaveNovember 14, 2012

Beans that is. I let them get a little mature but I've been having a hard time keeping up with them.

This is the first luck I've had with potatoes. These were from store bought. Even though they sprouted eyes only a minority of them actually sprouted and grew.

Palmers Feed in Orlando just got there certified seed potatoes in so I'm going to plant some of those. I was surprised they came in so late. How do potatoes fair in the frost? I just ordered some row covers just in case.

Beautiful! I have to admit you had me expecting a pic of a rattlesnake curled up in the lovely potato leaves.

I wouldn't plant them until the middle of January. By the time the tops are up, most of our freezes are over or at least they are small enough to cover with dirt to protect them.
