Anyone Growing Astilbe?

golden1225(Zone 9 - Plant City)December 8, 2011

I grew up in Delaware, and a common, very lovely plant for shade gardens was Astilbe. White Flower Farm is advertising an astilbe that is hardy to zone 9. I'm tempted to try it, but I can't find anyone here that has grown astilbe - and for that matter, even heard of it! I'd love to hear if you have tried it, and what success you have had or not had with it. Thanks! :-)

I remember Astilbe from my childhood in Ohio but can't say that I've ever seen it here in Florida. My guess is that it would probably do well in NW FL, inland from the immediate effects of the Gulf. cora
