No more Hummers!

flowerthyme(NW)July 14, 2007

I had lots of hummingbirds all spring, green and brown ones, red throat ones. But since around July 1st, they don't seem to be coming to the feeders anymore. Is this normal? This is my first year to have birds, I tryed last year, but none came.

I was wondering if they will be back?

Most likely -- when I lived in the NW mine would disappear during nesting but later return. Look for yours to be back before long, just keep the feeder food fresh. I don't know where you are but I was in the Portland area and had hummers year round. The Anna's will stick around some areas for the winter. Good luck!

In years past I've noticed they seem to leave and go up to the mountains, I've been told, but I still have a lot feeding around my place this year. I live out by Seatac airport.
