Apple butter question

mrslee2002(4)December 23, 2013

Ok, so I made a batch of crock pot apple butter about a week ago. It has sat in my fridge in the crock since. Could I heat it up and still process it?
Thanks!

I would think so. Not likely to spoil (bacteria, mold) if kept refrigerated and covered for a week, especially if it has sugar added. Use a thermometer to ensure that it is heated through thoroughly and making Vesuvius splurts before you put it in jars for the BWB.

Ok. Thanks! My dad really wanted some of my apple butter for Christmas but I've been short on time! :)

I would make sure to heat it thoroughly to the boiling point, just to make sure that any problems would have the chance of being killed.
