Shepherds Tongue

MornieFlDecember 22, 2011

Has any one here heard of Shepherd's Tongue? A friend brought me this plant it is a beautiful green and looks vaguely succulent. In the last month it has developed bent over branch tips edged in pale red. The little bell shaped ends are green and look a tiny bit like a hen and chicks just starting but are way up in the air on the ends of the arching branches.

I should have said "do you know what it is" I have not been able to find anything under the name I was given and would like to know what it is and what care it needs as well as any toxcity. The friend who gave it to me bought it at a flea market and was only told the Shepherd's Tongue name.

Could it be Shepherd's Purse (capsella bursa-pastoris)? See images below.

I couldn't find any of the images that look remotely like it. Will try tomorrow in the daylight to take a picture and post it. That is if I can figure out how to post a pic.

Might it be some sort of kalanchoe?

Same color green and lavender (red) on some parts but wrong shape leaf and no flowers on it. Now that some mention it, it could be some kind of kalanchoe I guess but has no flowers. The things on the end of the arching branches look like a dime sized start of "hen and chicks". Son is here so maybe he will be able to help me post the pic. The plant was bought here in Fla at a flea market.
