Hummer & Downy Lobelia

Lobelia puberula, a native perennial - not as flashy as its cousin, cardinalis, but the hummers love it just as much. They fight over it!!

Beautiful flower. May I ask where you live? Does this lobelia want damp conditions and some shade?

Tom - I live in TN. They will grow in shade, but get taller with more blooms if given several hours of midday sun. They like rich, well-drained soil, with dry to moderately moist conditions, not damp like cardinalis.
