disappearing hummers

litrhodyAugust 7, 2009

I have had hummers all summer, all of a sudden they have disappeared. I clean feeders every 2 days and put fresh nectar. Any ideas.

Where are you located? I am in central NY and I think mine have migrated early also. No action at the feeders for the last few days...

I am in Delaware and some of mine are gone. I am seeing new adult males, so I know that migration has started here in the mid-Atlantic.

Correction: I had one female at about noon today, but not sure if she was one of my "regulars." The action has definitely slowed down at my place! Lois

I have fewer hummers as well. Not sure why. As far south as I am (south TEX) you'd think they would wait longer to begin migration. Another change here is that they want the blooms more, sometimes not even going to a feeder before they leave. I think our two year drougth has something to do with that.
