Today at Cape Honeysuckle

The honeysuckle is just starting to bloom, and the Anna's are taking advantage.

Here's another from today:

These skipper butterflies seem to like to chase the hummingbirds. Anybody know why?

It's on a salvia leucantha which should be looking good starting in a week or so.

The shots are stunning! Yesterday, I saw this huge bumble bee chasing off the last of the ruby-throated females- however I witnessed the hummers chasing off a beautiful pipevine swallowtail among other butterflies. It's all competition at this late stage I believe....
