red worms in garden before planting

suziqmMay 23, 2013

Hi all,
We rototilled our garden spot today and wondered if it would be good for my soil if I put red earthworms into the soil before I plant the vegetables? Our soil is clay based as is much of Idaho, and we would like to enrich it- as naturally as possible.
Thanks everyone-

I started building flower/veg beds in Nampa about 7 years ago using the lasagna method. No rototilling at all; just grass clippings, leaves, compost. Now my clay soil is black, easy to dig, and full of worms who have somehow found my garden. Never needed to add them. I think if you just add lots of organic matter to your soil, the worms will come.
