Harvesting Potatoes

Is it bad to harvest potatoes when the ground is wet? I was told that digging up red or white potatoes when the ground is wet is bad and that the potatoes will rot while in storage.

I have never heard of this. I suppose if you stored them wet and muddy, it might be a possibility. I've never had any of my garden potatoes rot.
