White spots on Impatiens Pedals

Christal91May 4, 2014

I'm new to gardening and a couple of days ago, I went to my local nursery and picked up some sun impatiens. Well this morning when I went out to water them, I saw white spots on the pink impatiens pedals :( What could be the cause and can I cure it?

I notice that with mine too. First thought: thrips. They will mangle and scrape petals. But I've also seen it happen after high winds, temp fluctuations or if the plants got dry. They might be getting too much sun?

I'm not too keen on New Guinea type impatiens right now because of this. Along with getting white streaks, I notice the flowers wilt too.
