plants not blooming in outdoor screen porch...please help

susanzone5(z5NY)June 22, 2005

I thought these plants did well in shade. They are receiving morning sun for a few hours and shade the rest of the day. They are sitting right next to the screen with no obstructions except for the screen, which I imagine is blocking too much light.

How can I get these plants to flower? I have 3 different varieties in potting mix, with Miracle Grow half strength. They are otherwise healthy.

Thanks!

Yes, they need some sun to bloom. I don't know if the screen is blocking too much sun or not, but I would suspect so.

I have a friend that grows the most beautiful impatients, some are grown in a lot of shade. She claims the secret is to water them EVERY day and to fertilize every week with half the recommended strength, rather than the recommended strength every other week. Her impatients are always beautiful and lush and everyone who sees them are always WOWED!
