Harry lauder's Walking Stick

mcraney(4b)January 9, 2014

I have discovered that our two dogs decided to chew on my Harry Lauder's Walking Stick tree. It is now about half the height it was previously.

Our dogs have never done this before and I'm not certain why they decided to make an appetizer of it during this blast of arctic cold.

Have any of you had this happen? Did your tree survive?

I had planted a rooted stick of Harry Lauder's Walking Stick from a cheap catalog. It got leaves, but then a bunny nipped it off at the level of the ground. It did not make it. But if there are any buds on yours, it may survive. I would cage it to keep the dogs away from it, and carefully prune off any damaged wood to prevent infections. Leave as much as possible. Good luck!
