New Guina Impatients Propagating for spring

sjwhatislOctober 20, 2004

It's time to get the NG impatients out of the planter and I want to have some for next year without spending a fortune (like I did this year).

What is the best way to propagate? There are seeds pods that I have picked and they turned black and mushy. So I'm wondering if they can be rooted w/ a rooting solution.

You can start them like any other impatiens cuttings. Many like to start them in a glass of water. I prefer to use moist perlite and cover them with platic wrap, set under a flourescent light. I get fairy good starts this way.
