It's helpful - I usually end up with a symetrical planting in containers, and I don't always like the effect.
This one shows where to plant, and how many plants for the container.

Sanfan,

That was an old link that has since been abandoned due to a website update. A link to their home page is provided below. Once you get there, you may want to click on the "Combinations" button towards the top of the page. A dropdown menu for "Spring", "Summer" or "Fall" will appear for you to select from. This should provide you loads of ideas and examples like found below.
