Hi,

new to AZ and i found a spider, bit larger than a quarter with legs stretched out. moderate brown color all over over, except for underbelly of both abdomen and upper area (ie where legs connect) which was totally black. does anybody know what kind of spider this is?

-thanks

Without a picture or a better description, it will be very difficult to name this spider. In what kind of habitat did you find it....indoors, hunting outdoors, in a web, etc.?

thanks for responding.. the spider was in my living room in the middle of a bunch of boxes. we had just moved down from Utah, so it's possible the spider may have been transported down in the boxes (which were in storage for six months). I failed to mention that the legs had black stripes on them. Some people think it might have been a wolf spider, but it seems to me that the totally black underbelly region is unique enough to distinguish it apart from a wolf.
