Looking to Purchase Lady beetle (bug) eggs

Windycity_gardener(z5 Chicago, IL)May 10, 2004

Does anyone have a link or lead of anyone who sells healthy ladybeetle eggs. I understand they are most productive at pest control during the Larvea phase, and would like to get a card of eggs. SO I can benefit from the early stages.

Does any one have experience raising lady beetles? any thoughts or comments.

Here is a source I found by selecting "beneficial insects" on the drop down menu at the Merchants' Bazaar area of GardenWeb. I imagine you have already noticed that your question has elicited a pertinent ad from Google on the right hand side of this thread.

Most ladybeetles sold in North America are collected as adults so you won't find larva or eggs for sale. I don't know of anyone raising ladybeetles for sale. There was a company called Entomos in Florida that was raising a different species of ladybeetle (the ladybeetle you will find on the commercial market is the Convergent ladybeetle, Hippodamia convergens) for sale, but I see that their website no longer exists.

Please check the following site. If you are energetic, you may be able to solve this problem yourself by next summer.
