Hi, found this bug in my veggie garden last year and on my fruit trees this spring. Anyone know what it is? Beneficial or not?

Mmmmmm. I wonder what forum that was? Looks like a wasp. I don't think it's a problem. Sorry I don't know for sure. Grasshoppers, caterpillars, stink bugs and leaf footed bugs are my problem bad bugs here.
It looks like an asilidae commonly called an assassin fly. They are much fun to watch hunt. Interestingly I have noticed they usually carry prey by the dorsal side.
someone answered on another forum that it was a March fly. I believe that is what it is.
compare w/ this march fly, a female
Here is a link that might be useful: march fly, female
Looks more likie a March Fly to me than an Assassin Fly.

Just because you don't know what is it is doesn't mean you should kill it!! Most bugs are harmless. Please go to an Entomology site of the University of Florida or Georgia before you decide to kill a bug. You might be killing a beneficial insect.
