Remove Blooms From Newly Planted Hosta?

harryshoe zone6 eastern PennsylvaniaJune 3, 2009

Some of my newly planted hosta have not grown much but have immediately sent up flower stalks. The ones that show no sign of flowering are growing much better.

Will removing flowers divert more energy to foliage production on a young plant?

so goes the theory .. i usually do it ...

first year hosta.. being.. for the most part.. forced early in the season for retail sale.. do NOT do all that much the first year ... that you can see ...

grow the roots.. and next year they should be nice...
