Type of Iris ID

We were recently given this plant-I am sure it is an iris but the leaves are very stiff and the bottom bit is purplish-pink. It is also shorter than our bearded iris so can you help me figure what type it is?

It looks like a gladiolus to me, with the bulb missing. Did it have a bulb or a root?

They all have rhizomes but are small-about the size of my pinkie-thumb...was thinking they might all be young plants.

Can you show us a photo of the rhizome? That might help- from the perspective of your photo, the leaves look flat like a glad rather than an iris. Did this one break off?
