If there is a site that explains all the iris terminology used here, please direct me there.
The only one I know is TBI - tall bearded iris. The rest - I am lost.
Ha ha- I was so lost when I first started visiting this site! I remember now how many abbreviations and terms I was confounded by. Here's a page below with the classifications of the irises. Do you know the parts of the flower? That helps too- to know the difference between the falls and the standards etc. See this page here: http://lfrazer.com/iris/faqirisparts.html
And the colors? Amoenas have white standards, selfs are all one color, plicatas are sort of outlined, neglectas are two-toned blues and variegatas have yellow standards and reddish falls. I'll try to remember to put all of that info down when I post photos.
Here is a link that might be useful: American Iris Society
Renee, thank you so much! I was totally lost reading the site - as if everyone spoke a foreign language.
Appreciate the reference to the website. May all your irises look like the highest award winners.
Have a wonderful spring!
