Best way to keep gold fish in 75-100 gallon pond over NH winter

shortlid(Derry, NH)September 20, 2013

I have a gold fish pond with a plastic liner 75-100 gallons two and half feet deep at the deepest spot. What is the best way of keeping a air hole in the pond so my five large goldfish survive the long cold New Hampshire winter?

I've no idea if this is the ''best'' way but I took one of those heating strips sold for gutters and tossed it in small pond and it kept an air hole with temperatures down to 11Fð.

Inquire at Ponds and Aquatic Plants Forum - GardenWeb for other suggestions, perhaps.
