Well, Mr. Toad,
I did a search here on Gardenweb on chipmunks. Here are a few of the titles of the posts:

I have seen them in my yard, but they never stay. My father-in-law had one living underneath his concrete porch where it enter through a large crack. He never had a problem with it.

I have heard people complaining that they dig holes all over the place. I think it depends on how manicure you want your yard to look like. In my opinion, they are a lot less troublesome than the regular squirrels.

They will eat bulbs and dig holes. My advice is to get a cat...maybe two
