My Elegans these mornings with the 17-yr cicada hatch ... is anything but elegant ... perhaps pesticulated ... or cicadafied ...
Looking for a recipe for sweet 'n sour cicadas ...
Hot Thai dipping sauce in spray form??? Lol
Beautiful hosta and distinctly elegant yet despite the critters! A wow specimen in my book, Dave!
Hope you get some useful suggestions, though. :-)
I think chocolate dipped is the way to go.
An excellent source of protein, although I've only eaten insects (to my knowledge) only once when a bee flew into the back of my throat and I swallowed reflexively and it buzzed down my throat...but luckily I wasn't stung. Bumble, I'm pretty sure....well it felt kinda big and furry anyway.
Insecticide! I would give that plant a good coating, like shooting from your hip. Spray all of them hostas.
How long do those cicadas hang around for, Dave, the whole season?
Around here they last a couple months at least. And this 17 year thing is incredible. If you go into the woods it is deafening loud. You can feel it in the air.. It sounds to me like a Giant UFO special effect in a movie...
I look right past those bugs and see a beautiful, big, healthy hosta.
OMG, Jon, you had me laughing on that bee comment! Brilliant!
Beautiful Elegans, they aren't eating it, just taking a very long nap on it, right? :)
they are hardening off their exoskeletons after hatching from the nymph stage. they don't eat. just have sex and bury their eggs and die ⦠or get eaten by birds, which have lovely distended full bellies â¦
Chocolate coated cicada? You could sell them.
