asparagus in Mississippi

Hi all,

I live in SW Mississippi, approximately 100 miles north of Baton Rouge.

Can asparagus be successfully grown in my area?

I don't know if it helps but I live in the New Orleans area and am very successfully growing asparagus from crowns that came from my grandparents farm in northern Mississippi (near Tupelo- these asparagus were very productive there as well) If your question is in reference to climate/temperature issues then I would say that you should be fine as you should be somewhere in between us as far as average temp.

Hi mimi_grows... I am on the Westbank and am interested in growing asparagus. Would be interested in looking at the beds and get some first hand knowledge of growing.
