ID'ing Lawn weeds

gooup(z9, LA)May 12, 2014

Wasn't sure if this were better posted in Louisiana/Missisppi gardening, or Lawn Care, but here goes:

I have some weeds in my front lawn (St. Augustine) here in Houma, LA and i'm trying to identify them so i know what i'm fighting. Can anyone help ID these?

I think i have a few of these identified, some however are alluding me:

Weed 1: Dallisgrass?

Weed 2: ???

Weed 3: Nutsedge?

Weed 4: ???

Weed 5: Buttonweed?

Weed 6: ???

Here's a link to an album with more photos of each weed:

Not sure #3 is nutsedge. Remember sedges have edges. Sedge Stem is triangular not round.

3 is absolutely not nutsedge. Not remotely close. (Be glad.)

5 is definitely buttonweed. You have my sympathy. I've read that the best way to control it is to tear it out whenever you see it, and mow short.
