Black Eyed Susan's not coming up

heidiho(St. Martinville, La. Zn.8)May 9, 2012

In March I planted 3 Blackeye Susan bulbs in a big pot according to directions on package and keep them watered but nothing has come up yet. When can I expect them to break ground?

Thanks for your help and have a nice day.

Black-eyed Susans don't grow from a bulb. Where did you buy them?

Bought them at Home Depot. Says Rudbeckia black-eyed Susan on package. 3 bulbs in the pack for $6.98.
Says Blooms THIRD on the package; I don't know what that means.
full sun height 24-30";
Blooms late summer/early fall but I don't see anything at all coming thru the soil. I was just wondering if I should be feeding the bulbs now. I have them in a big pot in full sun and water occasionally as I would my other bulbs.
Thanks

Whatever they are they're not black-eyed Susans. Black-eyed Susans are blooming now and will through most of the summer.

Yes, those are black-eyed Susans and they grow from a seed, not a bulb.

This is a photo from May 2007. I grew the black-eyed Susans from seed.

Thank you very much for the info. The photo on the paper of the package that I bought look just like your black-eyed Susan's.
Something must have gone wrong in the packaging and it wasn't Rudbeckia that I purchased.
I'll dig them up and post a photo of the bulb. Maybe someone will know what it is. Strange how nothing ever grew in the 2 months since planted.
Thanks again.
