Iris atropurpurea....funny leaves?

RoseAbbeyJune 17, 2010

I just bought and planted an atropurpurea iris. The leaves remind me of a lily plant. They dont look like a fan. Is this because the plant is young? Is this type a rebloomer?

Per the link below,

Iris atropurpurea is in the Oncocyclus section(of Aril Irises) and is from Israel.

The 3rd photo down at this site shows the entire plant. Its leaves look more like a bulbous type iris than bearded. Very exotic bloom!
