i just bought a 125 watt full spectrum compact fluorescent and i don't know how close to set the bulb to my plants without burning them up.
pics of light
125 w CFL do not run too hot. still, from your pictures, may be just a little too close. give it 12' from the top of the seedlings.
Those are expensive bulbs. have you considered regular 48" fluorescent?
thanks for the info. i have a 48" fluorescent too but i wanted to try one of these out.
I don't use CFLs for plant growth, but did you mean 12 feet or 12 inches?
12" is correct. (12 inches).
But too late now. sea_of_green has already torn down his/her house to install the fixture 12' above the seedlings.
dcarch :-), :-D
lol no i havnt torn anything down installing my light 12' high. i knew you meant 12". i have it about 12" over them and there doin fine. i have a few bush basil sprouts and lettuce up (in the picture) and i have
15 more germinating in my humidity dome along with 13 sweet basil and 12 spearmint.

Just a result of a bad habit. Always lying about measurements to my girl friend.
