pole bean question!

emileeg(DFW, TX)April 27, 2011

My beans are all happily climbing up their trellis, and I keep getting all happy and bubbly feeling inside whenever I look at them :) I'M SO EXCITED! Only one bean plant didn't make it - just didn't grow fast enough and all the others shaded it out.

But now that my beans are happily growing like crazy, I have a question!

Each bean plant is sending out several "arms." Do I guide all of them to the trellis, or just let one climb and snip off the others?

Let 'em grow. You'll get more beans that way.

Yes, branching is normal, and desirable. More leaves, more flowers, more beans. Let 'em go wild.
