Too soon to plant lily bulbs in Zone 5?

linnea56(z5 IL)April 5, 2008

ItÂs supposed to be warm this weekend, and the garden will finally dry out. 60 degrees F and sunny! Wow! Can I plant the lily bulbs and bare-root ferns I bought, or should I wait? My existing lilies have not appeared yet: thatÂs another thing that makes me hesitate, for fear of running into something. CanÂt remember when they showed up last year.

I should be happy to just clear out the beds, but IÂm champing at the bit to plant SOMETHING.
