t8 lights

i got 2 t8 lights and i put my plants 1 inch under them and the tips of the first leaves look burnt but the true ones didnt i dont know if the lights burning them or its something else.
how for should i keep them away from the light

I don't think the lights have burned the seed leaves (cotyledons). I'm using T8 lights, and I've had leaves actually touch the bulbs and not get burned. The one inch distance is just about right.
