Peas: How long from flowers to harvest end?

queuetue(5a)June 3, 2008

My super early Dakotas just started flowering, and my intention is to get some summer-tolerant Wandos in the same ground to take over when the dakotas peter out, but I'm not sure when to get them in the ground.

Is there an average time that a pea plant produces, or does it just keep going until environmental factors finish it off?

Length of harvest period is dependent on environmental factors and to a lesser degree variety choice. Mildew and heat finish peas off. Last year we had a very cold summer in Britain and I harvested peas all September. During a warmer summer we get little or nothing after July.

Is there a good way to control pea mildew?
