peas with white leaves

dooner24June 20, 2014

This is my first POST!
So I tried growing super sugar snap peas last year but I think the heat here in Denver got the best of them.

This year they are off to a great start! The only concern I have is the leaves are turning speckled white with some of the bigger ones starting to turn all white. They did the same last year and I'm afraid I might lose the peas before they produce fruit. It doesn't look like mildew to me, nothing on the surface.

Any help/expertise is greatly appreciated!

I haven't had experience of those large white patches but the rest of the speckling looks normal. Maybe the variety you are growing just has larger blotches.

I'd suggest planting earlier. Farmer's Almanac says you can plant in early April in Denver. Peas don't mind cooler soil and I usually plant in February here if I can. My last frost date is about April 15. I think I planted on or about March 1 this year and I'm done with them now. I realize Denver is colder than we are here, but the same principle applies. Looks like you're about 2 weeks behind us with average last frost dates, so you should be able to get away with planting in March, I would think. If you can break ground then.
