Gloriosa Question

westy1941(Boulder County, CO)June 17, 2010

I planted three gloriosas against a lattice in April and they're finally up about eight inches. When does this lily bloom? I know it's a vine - does it need to be tied to the lattice or will it attach by itself?

Thanks,

Westy

I miss having gloriosas! They bloom about two to three months after planting, at least for me they did. They were about a foot tall when they bloomed, and, WOW, there is nothing to touch them! I hope you post pictures!

Howcome you can't have them now? I see you're in Zone4 but you have to take them inside anywhere except Zone9...I never knew they even existed until I saw one in a picture online...went crazy! I CAN'T WAIT TIL THEY BLOOM! A foot tall? I had no idea. I thought they had to grow about four or five feet. I just got three more so now there will be six - I put them where the clems are and they'll be done blooming soon and I might cut them back quite a bit so the lilies can be seen better. But I'm curious as to why you don't have them now...

PS I will post pics...
