buff pixie - tiger genes?

cnid(z5b Ont Canada)June 20, 2005

I just bought a buff pixie in a pot - dirt cheap and cute as can be. I keep thinking that it looks like a tiger lily in some ways. Are the pixies crossed with the tiger lilies? I'm always thinking about viruses in the back of my mind now.

Use this link to research your lily ancestry. I keep this link in my Bookmarks as I refer to it often. Right off hand, I don't see tigrinum/lancifolium listed. You have to dig deeper than the Buff Pixie entry. Some of the species involved include davidii, cernuum, dauricum and others. A complex ancestry indeed.

Don't be afraid of lilies which are produced by crosses from Oregon bulb farm. They were in most cases purposely hybridized for maximum disease resistance, such as connecticut lemonglow.
